  Hat is as expected and for a fair price. Unfortunately I had not noticed the whopping shipping cost of $16.65, which is outrageous. I often ship hats all around the country at $7.95, which is reasonable.

  Yes, I agree that $16.65 is outrageous for shipping. The hat fell was over a pound and it was shipped from Long Island, NY to California. If you calculate the shipping to go from NY to CA at usps.com, that is the actual shipping.
