I have always found watches fascinating. Ever since I received my first one, for my first communion, as is customary with good catholic French folk. Mine was a Ralco, a Swiss product of limited repute. You can still today find a few on eBay. It was made of stainless steel. Some of the other guys got gold watches. So, to ensure I would impress them, I told them my watch was actually made of platinum, and that Ralco was the "boutique" brand for Omega. The Ralco stayed with me for many years, and even went through both the clothes washer and the drier: still ticking after that episode. I wonder what happened to it. Today, many, many years later, I am a very lucky man with a loving wife who bought me a Patek-Philippe Calatrava branded Tiffany 12 years ago. The watch is now worth more than my car, and is my most prized possession.
