Ink Cartridges

I had Pixma MG7550 which broke and i now have a few cartridges on my hands namely, 550 XLs and 551 XLs, I now have a Pixma MG7751 (exactly the same machine) but the cartridges are 571 and 571, question is " Why are the cartridges not compatible" ?
