Plastic NOT rubber
1 of 1 found this helpful This torch is now sold under the 'Lightbright' brand name and not AA. Contrary to how it is described, it is not made of rubber. The whole body is made of plastic. The only external part which is rubber is the on- off button.
The plastic feels quite solid but how resilient it is to being dropped is not something I was prepared to find out!
The plastic stand does not seem very robust and the ratchet mechanism to adjust the angle up to 90° is somewhat stiff which makes a disconcerting noise and one is hesitant to apply too much strain as it does feel as if could easily break.
No instructions leaflet is provided which would be helpful in determining the correct method to replace the batteries. There is no built in charging facility so if using rechargeable batteries, which will work fine, these will need to be removed and recharged separately.
The torch takes 4 X 'C' type batteries which are housed in a removable rectangular container. This is accessed by unscrewing the front glass lens and removing the lamp section. The battery housing has to be tipped out. Getting hold of the housing by means of the two spring battery contacts to remove it is probably not a good idea.
The battery housing is replaced by simply dropping it back into the torch body. When replacing the top lamp section which incorporates the battery contacts, it is necessary to ensure that the two protruding contacts face towards the handle.
The torch performed satisfactory and is well balanced and provides quite a bright light.
Because of the wrong description of the torch being made of rubber and the somewhat awkward procedure when replacing the batteries particularly under dark conditions, I am awarding 4 out of 5 stars but basically the torch seems to be of more than adequate construction and should satisfactorily perform its purpose.

Poor browning performance
This toaster looks stylish and has all the features you would expect including reheat and defrost functions and seems to represent excellent value for money. However, where it falls down badly is that the depths of the slots are not even adequate enough to cope with a normal size large loaf yet those of larger proportions. A standard large slice of bread measures approx 10 x 12 cm yet when pushed down the top of the slice is only level with the top of the toaster (instead of needing to disappear inside to be in full contact with the elements). This means that approx the top 2 cm of the bread doesn't get browned at all. How a firm like Russell Hobbs can make a toaster which doesn't allow the bread to go far enough down into the toaster to brown evenly is beyond my comprehension. If you put the bread in side ways you may get better results but it can be a tight fit. Because it does not perform the the basic function of toasting the bread evenly, I can only award this product 2 stars whereas it could have received 5 if only it was capable of doing its basic job properly.
