Compelling yet lacking
I was put off buying this game due to the negative reviews people have given it. But I had finally caved in and I decided to go ahead and buy it.
The base game is pretty boring in terms of story as their is no explanation or backstory. Questions were left unanswered, such as; "Why was my guardian dead?" and "What happened in the war that happened centuries ago?". Not to mention the entire game is all online.
The next two expansions also gave some content but never really answered the questions it left me with. It did give more missions and strikes as well as more gear, so it wasn't that bad. But I could have still played the game without those two expansions and I would be alright.
The Taken King is truly what saved the game from being a complete failure. It brought a bout of change and increase in content that truly was gripping, entertaining and goosebump-giving. It gave us a tangible enemy, new weapons and gorgeous cinematic. Also, new imaginative armour and weaponry was dropped, the Spektar and Desolate gear are truly gorgeous.
Overall, the game isn't bad. But I would advise you to buy the full game, so buy the Legendary Edition if you want it to be worth the money.
