Record Any Media or live TV to a Memory Card
2 of 2 found this helpful I saw a V-Mate on a TV show & could not belive it could be so Universal, so I decided to give it a try.
I of course found a fantistic bargain on Ebay for £40:00 as these nomally retail around $150+/£75+.
A couple of Bad Points First:- No CF slot! So no cheap Flash Memory! Shame!!
Next a fiddly but very thin 'Remote Control'.
The Buttons are very sensitive so setting up the Timer for advanced recording of future TV programmes is not so user friendly.
Even so, its a 'Very Cool Device'.
Now all the Plus Points:= Very simple to view, use & connect..
The 'SanDisk V-Mate' basically lets you record all analogue video sources which are then magically converted directly into 'Digital MP4 Format'. This utilises 80% of all current 'Flash Memory Cards'; (eg):-SD (Secure Digital), Micro SDHC (Micro Secure Digital High Capacity), Mini SDHC, MMC/RS (multimedia cards) & Memory Stick Duo/Pro Duo, but unfortunately not XD or more importantly CF l/ll?
Also you can record from any DVD & Video player, a Cable / Satellite / Freeview
or HDD Set-Top Box & Off-Air TV or even from the Internet via a PC/Laptop using a USB to Mini-USB Cable.
Its just like a VCR using Flash Cards instead of VHS Tapes.
If you plug the supplied 3.5 jack cable into the back of the SanDisk Box & then connect to your analogue source via the composite connectors (white/red/yellow) you then insert a 'Flash Memory Card' into a corresponding front slot.
Just choose your settings & you are ready to get Digital.
Its easy to record MPEG-4 video in several levels of quality & resolution by choosing a specific format for viewing on your Play-Back digital device.
The V-Mate records the images at 640 x 480 & is therefore ideal for any of the current portable media players out there including all Symbian Enabled Phones; (Ericsson/Nokia/Motorola etc or Windows Mobile 4/5/6/ 'Smart Phones'.)
Also the many other PDA's, Tablets, Laptops or PCs etc that can read a Memory Flash Card inserted directly or via a 'Universal Media Slot Card Reader'.
Finally there is a really useful 'Recording Menu' which will guide you through the procedures of using the 'SanDisk V-Mate'.
Basically 'Homer Simpson' could use this device..'Doh'!!
Thats All Folks!
