A good read, very uplifting, curl up with a glass of red and enjoy it!!
As I hadn't seen the movie I thought I'd read the book instead and I enjoyed every minute of it. Considering the book constantly gives the reader a deep insight into what the author is always feeling I'm not sure how that would relate onto the big screen so I think you'd get more out of the book than the film. I'll be hanging onto this book as it's worth a second read. It was rather inspring and uplifting.

Curl up by the fire and escape to a land of swords, knights and evil kings
Love the HBO television series and am a G.O.T. addict so I bought the boxed set of books. They're a good read IF you've seen the films, otherwise a newcomer would get lost with all the characters. It's also a bit disappointing when you find that the producers have strayed from the original storyline a few times - probably for dramatic effect? The first three books move along at a brisk pace then it bogs down a little from that point on (I wont spoil what happens for those who haven't read the books.) These books are good value for a few afternoons of fantasy escapism, great reading on a winter afternoon in front of the fire.

Good story line and wonderful scenery, a bit soppy but worth watching ONCE.
Great opportunity for people who missed these films at the cinemas etc. Part One is great (although horse people will notice the obvious mistakes that are used for film continuity) and Part Two is a disappointment, mainly due to the absence of Kirk Douglas - a superb actor -and his unbelievable replacement by Brain Denehay. Worth buying and and watching due to eBay's bargain prices but not sure if I'd be happy paying full retail cost for this box set.
