Balto (DVD 2002)
Good animation film based on a true story. The documentary in the DVD extras is a must as it describes the amazing true life story of this Dog that led the team delivering life-saving medecine to the remote town of Nome, Alaska. To this day a sled dog race covering 1000 miles is run every year to commemorate the original 'serum run'. This story is an absolute must for dog lovers and has a good educational message about faithfulness and courage. There is a statue in Central Park, New York, of Balto with the legend, 'Fidelity, Intelligence, Endurance.'

Wolf Quest, a story about a husky with an absent Father
This a great idea of a follow up to the original Balto film. It can be enjoyed by kids and adults as it can be enjoyed on different levels. There is a sort of spirituality in this film. Balto's father was said to be a Wolf and BAlto imagines him as a sort of Spirit of the wilderness and the freedom of life beyond the 'civilisation' of the town. The story does wander a little and the drama is not so intense as the third film in the Balto trilogy, 'Wings of Change' but it's essential and much above average for those who love Animal animations, dog stories, and stories of the wilderness and also the theme of, 'the search for the missing parent', 'the father I never knew.'
