The casting makes this a quality movie
Even with such a topic to make into a movie for entertainment and education, this movie has the cast perfect for each character and they express the transition of the civil rights strife without being “preachy” and shows it as ugly as it was.

Similar to Misery, Jack's a very convincing cop. See It
2 of 2 found this helpful Nice setting similar to Misery. There's just enough characters in the film to tell the story. You find yourself really pulling for Jack's character to close the case and prove his gut feelings and years of experience were right. The title refers to Jack's commitment to a victim that he'll solve the case, hence "The Pledge."
A very good 'case to solve' movie.

Filmed in the bible lands & the King James Version!
5 of 5 found this helpful Very edifying and nothing 'churchy' to this video. Charlton Heston reads the King James Bible to you with his way of speaking that is great. The video picks scripture and provides visuals just like when reading about Capernum...he reads about that place and then you see him walking around in Capernum and showing you where events actually took place. At times, the video shows artwork by painters of old that adds a visual to that part of the scripture. Charlton Heston's main platform to speak and read is an impressive, ancient, biblical structure where he has an large bible open for him to reference. That scene is attractive enough, but then they switch to a night scene where big torches light up the readings/teachings by Mr. Heston.
This video is great for simply presenting the KJV scripture from the very locations that biblical events took place. There's nothing to cause confusion...it uplifts you with the only divinely inspired version, "preach the word."
