A great set of DVDs, great value for money, fantastic story.
2 of 2 found this helpful A great set of DVDs that breaks at the end of each one at the appropriate moment leading to the next one. The quality of the DVDs is great. I bought them because I love the story, have read the books many times over the past 20 years, and was delighted when the decided to produce the film. It is a shame that some of the book content was omitted, because I consider certain things vital to the story, but if you want to know what you've missed read the books! The film was brilliantly produced given what they had to omit, and the cast excellent. I watch it often.

Not Without My Daughter DVD
I bought this film because I admire Sally Field, and because it is a true story. It is a story about mixed marriage, and prejudice; and how sometimes it is impossible to live in the west with these difficulties. The story is about the fight of the mother to return to the west with their young daughter, and how her husband and family refuse to let them return, and ultimately how an escape is planned and effected. The story is both terrifying and exciting at the same time and I would recommend it highly.

Charlie Wilson's War DVD
This is an excellent true story, of which I had no idea. Charlie Wilson (Tom Hanks), top brass american armed forces, despite overlooking some immoral dealings, had a wonderful good side, and when approached for support for weapons for Afghanistan, was determined to see justice done after going out to see what it was really like to be there. He offered to double the budget for weapons but because the need was so great, ended up spending an american fortune to see that the people did not continue to be slaughtered because they could not defend themselves. The war turned around and the people were very grateful for the aid received. The film is very moving, depicting people living in terrible conditions and suffering constantly, and in my opinion is a 'must watch' to make people aware of the reality of what happened.
