Sturdy and a perfect fit
Really pleased to find a good alternative to the original Ideal Standard seat, of which we have had two since 2004, and have had to repair both of those with epoxy etc before the hinges finally snapped.Shame on them for not improving the design.
The hardest part was removing the original fittings which had rusted together, but the new seat went on easily and, in our case, didn't require any of the cutting down of the bolts as others have described.
As advised elsewhere, put the hinge fittings on finger tight, add the seat, adjust the position then remove the seat and tighten up. It is easier to hold the nut below in place with a spanner and tighten from the top with a screwdriver. Finally put the fixing covers and the seat back on.
The soft close and removable seat mechanism is a bonus and as it is a perfect fit I don't mind the chunkier look.
