I like this band. Great record! Buy yours today!
These Swedish lads are the real deal. I love their writing and the traditional sweet sound. Being a steel-player myself, I'd recommend this collection to any of my brothers who love vintage 50's country honky-tonk music. Peter Andersson's steel guitar's sounds amazing! It's reminiscent of the time of Left Frizzell's and Wynn Stewart's music; back in the heyday of the Bakersfield sound. BTW: There is no harp from "Sam." He started his career off on blues-harp then switched over to front, "The 'COUNTRY' side of 'Harmonica Sam." Great CD; excellent bang for your buck. And still widely unknown in most circles. Let's all work to change that: This band deserves to be heard and recognized. Well, I'm a fan. So I may be a bit biased. Find out for yourselves.

Sainless grooved tone-bar clone
The good: For about $13 bucks CDN it's a decent bar. Plus it's always good to have a spare. Especially if it's one we could afford to lose if that should ever happen. Maybe stock up! There are lots. Just don't make it your main bar. There are far better. The rounded nose is always handy especially for Lap-steel or even PSG is you wish; and the sharp end is good for dobro pull-offs. This bar is not too bad for slants. I don't tend to slant all that much. I just do very limited slanting: IV's to the right; and II minors toward the left. The tone and sustain are okay but not superior. In fact, it's a bit weak compared to other bars I've used. But it will do in a pinch. It's described as being stainless. So it shouldn't wear down as quickly as brass, if at all, which is why I bought it. BTW: It's not made of the magnetic stainless-steel material. Apparently, there are two types of stainless. Magnetic and non-magnetic. This one is the non-magnetic. Who cares? But if you need to know that info, now you know. "NYK!" The chrome coating gives it a good feel. The not-so-good: For me, I find it a bit small, smaller than the one it knocked-off (SP-2) and it's a bit lighter. BTW: I like the fact it's, "lighter" but I'm not crazy about the smaller size. A bit awkward, at least for my own average-sized hand, to hold on to. In my opinion, I don't think this one measures up to the brass, "Peter Grant" SP-2 sold at twice the price: The finger-grooves on the clone are a bit narrower. Not by a whole lot, but noticeably. If you A-B both bars, you can look real close and maybe see the difference. But you can definitely FEEL the difference right away. Your hand will know. Maybe it's just right for a smaller hand or for a child,.. But for me, I don't feel that I have full purchase (a good grip.) on it when I'm holding it. If it was just a touch bigger than the original, or the same size dead-on, they might've nailed it. One of the most annoying things which will make this bar pretty old pretty fast with most players, is the unfiled sharp four corners on the top groove. They'll stick ya! FYI: This stock picture supplied in the ad, is of the bar upside down: The pointed corners are shown on the bottom. Those dig right into your flesh and they hurt! All it takes is another ten seconds of the manufacturer rounding those corners off on a grinder to make this unit a bit smoother and more pleasant to use. There seem to be a number of stainless grooved bars available now. Some are under recognized corporate brand names at three times, or even more, than the retail price of this one. And of course, there are no shortages of these no-name contenders right here, always readily available for a budget price. But since it would appear that all these things on the market all look identical and they are all made in China, I would be hesitant in trying any of the domestic branded products for fear that they're produced by same off-shore manufacturer who made this product which I'm reviewing. Maybe there's a difference. But I'm not going to risk it by buying another SP-2 copy to find out. BTW: This should be a cue for Shubb-Pearce to come out with a stainless version of their own, Peter Grant SP-2 tone-bar. And if they don't, I guess I'm stuck with always replacing my worn-out brass SP-2 bars if I still want great tone. IMHO: The clonesters came real close with this one. But in the end, they missed it anyway. Save your money and just go get another SP-2 instead. Happy steeling!
