affordable but a bit wobbly
The Laser housing is cheaply made but set up easy enough. The tripod is very small but works fine. seems good value but very wobbly which makes it very difficult to use in my opinion.
I own several Silverline tools and they are mostly great value. This item is undeniably cheap and just about does what it says it does. The laser isn't the brightest (indoor or dusk) but fair enough for the price.
The *essential* bit, the reason you buy something like this - the self-levelling laser inside - is on such a wobbly springy mechanism that I found it very hard to align to a useful precision. Nudging the laser and waiting for it to settle after each tiny manoeuvre is the price you pay for such a low price. So if you don't mind farting about like that then I'd say you'll get some use out of it.
Realistically, this item may well be at least as good as other incredibly cheaply-priced laser-levellers out there. But in all honesty I don't have the patience to use it and have now bought a more expensive, hefty device.

Straight swap
This is a straight swap out for the rubber latch hook thingy. looped at either end to take a hook at one end (not supplies) and affix at the other end.

Best value I could find on eBay
Works perfectly well - glad I didn’t waste money on more expensive options. A hefty, very simple device, not much to go wrong. A little oil was the only thing I added. Not something I will use too often (I hope) so I expect it will last a lifetime.
