Best model of the Type VIIC in this scale.
1 of 1 found this helpful While there are many models done of the German U-boat this is by far the best for the scale. Not anywhere near as large as the cousins in 1/72 scale by Revell of Germany it still gives great detail in this scale.
I built the the Type VIIC 41 Atlantic version of this a few years ago by Revell of Germany and found it to be very accurate to the real ship. Sadly only one of these subs are in existence today that is the Type VIIC 41 of the total that were built.
This is a way better kit than the old Revell 1/125 scale known as the U99 or the visible version known as the U47. Highly detailed makes these older Revell kits obsolete, just wish that Revell would do a scaled down U-505 kit from thier 1/72nd line to 1/144.
What's really cool is if you have other 1/144 scale ship or sub models you can do a size comparison of the ships side by side. There is a definite size difference between the WWII German U-boat and say the American Gato class fleet submarine.
This is the most accurate detailed model that I know of the Type VIIC in this scale. You can find some detail up kits if you really want to tweek this kit but out of the box build can be just as nice.
Picture I have uploaded are of the Type VIIC 41 Atlantic version I did a few years ago but gives anyone an Idea of level of details the kit offers, this was an out of the box build with only weathering chalks used for a worn look but not over done.
Das Boot the best movie done about life on a WWII U-boat.
