A Really Good World War II Story
This is a very interesting story that touches on the emotions of two key characters and their experiences before and after World War II and how their trajectories come together.
It is raw and gruelling in places and gives great insights into military and domestic aspects as well as the inside story of the siege of St Malo just after the invasion of Normandy.
Whilst it is gritty, it is a fabulous and compelling story. I really enjoyed it.

Fascinating, Well Written and Brooding. Loved It!
An excellent story that meanders a little to build the tension. It is a story unlike any other I have read and gives a wonder ful insight into the fascinating sugar-fuelled and merchant-driven world of Amsterdam in 17th century.
