Very disappointed, since I love the color

This is the worst coffee maker I have ever purchased. Only 1.5 months old and some of the black on the burner has come off. I have never had a coffee maker do this. Since I have birds, I am trying to decide if I should use it. I know you can not use chipped teflon with birds.
