Looks as good as it performs.
1 of 1 found this helpful This syncs perfectly with my MacBook pro and performs regular and reliable backups, all wirelessly. It is easy to set up, and as with all Apple products, it is designed to look as good as it performs. Full marks for a beautiful piece if kit, I would recommend this to anyone considering a simple backup solution to their growing data.

Looks can be deceiving
I bought this product because I needed a 'Time Machine' backup for my MacBook Pro. The reviews said it would perform this function effortlessly, however this was not the case.
The 'Time Machine' backup instructions were followed as best possible, however they were not exactly defined step-by-step, which was what I wanted. I did get it to start a backup, but the on-screen instructions did not perfectly match the menus I was seeing. There was a certain amount of guesswork.
Once backup began, it performed very well. Quiet, effortlessly copying all my data. I have no doubt this is a very capable piece of equipment, and it can likely perform much more than 'Time Machine' backups. The interface was clear and easily accessible, and I think I might have liked to find out much more about it. However, once backup was complete my woes returned.
It was unpredictable in what it would show me in terms of the extent of my backup records. Sometimes it would show correct information (oldest backup time and date, last backup time and date, next backup time and date) but other times it would show no record of backup at all. Further, when I entered 'Time Machine' the display was nothing like it should have been. In 'Time Machine' I should be able to access records of my computer at times and dates specified, and I should be able to access any files I need to update. This was not evident at all. I was presented with a 'RESTORE' button, but to be honest by this time I had lost all faith in it.
I have since replaced it with an Apple Airport Utility device, which has done exactly what I wanted it to do, without any problems. It has synced perfectly, there was no additional file set-up, and it is backing up as I type. I guess I'll cut my losses and try to sell this on eBay; I am sure it is a perfectly good piece of kit to the right person, but I bought it to perform 'Time Machine' backups and in my estimation it has failed to meet that standard.
