Much enjoyed by an 11 year old
This is a good "transition" book for when someone has outgrown more child length books (such as the Beast Quest series which has large type and not many words per page). It is more adult length of novel.
I haven't read it my self but the whole series has been enjoyed by my 11 year old.

Good for an 11 year old
My 11 year old son is really enjoying this series. Hence I am now buying copies as birthday presents for his friends.
There are good "in between" reading books, i.e. more complex language than things such as the beast quest series but not too hard to be off putting.
