Not like they use to be.
I haven't used a rubber hood in many years. I wanted it for a 35mm camera with a 50mm lens. It's my old canon a1 and I wanted it to match what I use to use on it. Unfortunately the hood is smallish and fairly thin. Rubber hoods in the past use to be thicker and have a bigger front to them. This one just seems flimsy.

Used or new this lens is incredible
Used or new this lens is incredible. Super sharp at wide open. Focus is fast. Even though the focus depends on the body, this lens acquires focus faster than any other Canon lens I've used.
