This is an excellent and experienced seller. There was excellent communication throughout, with extra testing, to ensure item is in the advertised condition. Packaging was top notch, and item received as described. Showing everyone how eBay should be done.

Quite Interesting.
Not the mine of information I expected. More a "Make these things and learn as you go" sort of practical course. Nothing like the Myford ML7 book which had tons of useful info and a couple of practical projects at the end.

Great product, but!
There is potential for dissappointment here. Not because of the GS605 but because Giga Bit 1000Base-T uses all four pairs of a Cat 5 cable. Your 10/100Base-T might be working fine but don't assume all the other pairs are good.
Start with a good quality patch lead with both ends plugged into the GS605. Power it on and you should get all five LEDs on green as it boots up and then two green LEDs. If any of the five boot LEDs are orange then try another lead. While you are at it check out a bunch of leads.
Hook up the first part of your network and check both ports LEDs are green. If you get one green port LED and one orange the segment attached to the orange port is running at 10 or 100. You can use the GS605 as a go/no-go tester and move it down the network until you have isolated the leg that caused the orange LED. This might be the point at which you get yourself an RJ45 cable tester (£10 or less on Ebay) to check out the Cat 5 wiring and any patch cables that failed earlier.
Good Luck
Cheers
