Under Powered, bad 1080p pass-through?
0 of 2 found this helpful I’ve only got a couple weeks under my belt with this receiver. Plenty of options, hookups, bells & whistles. However my first and largest complaint so far is this thing is seriously under powered for driving 6 & 8 ohm loads, front L C R mains. For audio and video you have to crank to around -25db which is extremely high compared to other receivers I’ve owned including other Pioneer models. The wattage claims are no where near their rated output and this thing really wants me to have much more overhead power.
My other observation is 1080p pass-through does not look great on my UHD HDR display. In fact I’ll call it horrible. Everything is dark and almost a “washed-out” look. Have not messed with all the settings but there appears to be only a few dealing with upscaling. 4K HDR pass through looks just fine, no discernible difference vs coming direct from source.
A return may be in the best choice here.
