25 METRE WATER LEVEL GAUGE KIT inc HOSE PIPE DISTANCE SPIRIT LEVEL SIGHT TUBES

Needs a bit of modification for big garden use

For use outside where you might want a consistent slope over a long area the level sight tubes may not be long enough. I attached the clear pipe to two identical bits of timber with graduated scales o see drops of 40 cm and ended up not using the site tubes. They are best left attached though as they act as a buffer make the whole apparatus more forgiving in an overflow situation. The tubing is relatively lightweight and easily kinked. It's important it isn't to get a true level. When first used filling hot water helps uncoil the tubing. I used some food coloring in the water to help see the levels. The effect is the same as using screen wash without the health hazard.

Good value alternative to a new TRV

If you have an otherwise functional old style TRV, replacing the head if its damaged saves a lot of time and hassle having to drain water from the central heating pipework to replace the entire valve. These replacement old style heads are expensive compared to buying a new TRV but are cheap compared to the hassle of fitting the entire valve. They can be fitted in just a couple of minutes.
