One of the best interpretations of the book.
1 of 1 found this helpful I own other movie interpretations of Jane Eyre and this - by far - has the most accurate quotes and depth of the work, as it was written.
Though not well known, the actors give credible acting performances.
If Sorcha Cusack appears familiar to you, she plays the housekeeper on the current Father Brown mystery series.
The dvd was as described, arrived quickly and was well packaged. Thanks.

Well written, in depth, non -boring study of events.
The author has really done her homework. Though not a child in London during WWII, I was one in a major city during this time. We received direct hits and the details noted here take me back, to our numerous relatives having to relocate to our small home, after a night's bombing. Also having to take in soldiers after the D Day rescue. Fast reading, great black and white pictures of the horror. Even obituaries had to be monitored, so as not to provide information to the enemy. There was only one geographic barrier for our protection - 20 miles of the English Channel! It was close!!! Not a stuffy book at all. Well worth the cost. Thanks.

Great book with authentic recipes.
The recipes tried in the book are authentic and tasty, utilising whatever is in season. Have had this book for years and have bought for our children and now for our grandchildren. The Christmas pudding recipe is a tradition in the family and sent as gifts for friends, I wouldn't dare not send one to them Even though the friends are not from England, they love it, with Bird's custard!
If you buy and use it, you need to remember that the English pint is 20 fluid ounces, [2.5 cups of liquid] and not 16 fluid ounces, [2 cups of liquid]. I do use scales and ounces.
