Audiolab 8200CDQ CD Player Black

Upgrade over arcam alpha 8se

Had my 8se since 1997 which I loved but it developed a fault so here I am. Cannot get out to dem hifi anymore so had to go by advice and reviews. I'm very impressed with the detail this player digs up compared to the arcam. Early Mike Rutherford bass guitar on Genesis live is outstanding, as is the whole album. In fact everything I've played seems to have better definition in all respects. If you can still find one, I'd recommend this player and the dac and pre amp inputs are a big bonus too. Just hope it lasts 20 years?

Good for simple design alloys.

Comfortable and easy to use for less complicated alloys like my astra 10 spokes. Not so suitable for complex pattern multi spoke alloys, a bit too big for those tight spaces.

Small & efficient

Pros: Folds away small enough to fit inside small kettle. Stable 3 leg system. Boils small kettle quickly. Neat storage pouch. Cons: No ignition system, requires a lighter or matches. No windshield around the burner as others do. Regulator can become slightly loose on gas canister reducing flame efficiency until tightened up again. Storing inside damp kettle causes mould to grow on storage pouch (Not a fault, just a caution). Overall very happy with this little stove for what I use it for (making coffee at the lake), just wish it had a built in ignitor.
