Excellent value
I have 2 of these simply because they are inexpensive, great value and well made.
Matte boxes historically have always been horrendously expensive, this one from FOTGA breaks that mould, it has pretty much most of the features of something 3 or 4 times the price and at the end of the day it does the same job as its more expensive counterparts.
The only thing I did change on this was the wingnuts, they are plastic so I changed them for metal which looks much better and is less prone to breakage through over-tightening.
Why pay more for your matte box when you can get one of these?

A great lens but expensive for what it is.
A great lens but expensive for what it is.
This is basically a screw on wide angle lens (a bit like a giant door viewer), having said that it is typical Canon quality - excellent.
However, for what it is I have to say the price is horrendous, I have given this 4 stars simply because of the pricing issue, no matter how much I may like this or how good the quality is I cannot see the justification in a £500+ price tag for a screw on lens.
But... if you want a wider view on your XF100 or XF200 or even the HF G and XA ranges then... Your choice.
There are cheaper Chinese lens that do the same job (minus the awesome lens hood) but they do suffer from barrel distortion whereas this does not.
I bought this simply because I wanted to put the best glass on my lens and this IS the best out there, just be prepared to pay a premium price.
Oddly enough the lens for the XF300 (82mm diameter as opposed to this one at 58mm) is about the same price, now that does look like a £500 lens whereas this one does look a bit small and leaves you wondering why it cost so much.
Conclusion: A great quality lens with a decent lens hood (by the way the lens cap does clip directly onto the hood as well) but at a very high price, shopping around will not benefit you on this item, prices are pretty much the same wherever you go.
Worth getting but not really worth the price being asked but without a credible alternative... you have no choice.

James Ray at his best
As always, excellent stuff from James Ray, love what he teaches and preaches, love his delivery, this is an excellent package, so much so I will be searching now for the book in hard copy format. Great and easy on the ear, even greater on the mind. Worth every penny.
