Third party OBD apps won’t work on iOS or Windows
I’ve used previous ODB dongles before both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and came across this one as it was compact so it could sit neatly into my glove box with the door closed and the product info said it worked with Apple. My previous Bluetooth dongle wasn’t supported by Apple so had to rely on a bulkier Wi-Fi alternative.
I followed the instructions and downloaded the app which is needed to establish a connection via Bluetooth. You have to download their app as I couldn’t add or find the Bluetooth device manually via settings so it appears that the app you download acts as some sort of bridge between the app and the hardware. I suspect this acts as a work around as this device is not natively supported or approved by Apple. The supplied app does connect to the OBD dongle and it works but it’s limited in features and functionality hence why I have always used third party OBD tools such as Dash command.
Unfortunately non of the third party OBD apps for iOS work with this Bluetooth OBD dongle even if I open up the supplied app to establish a connection first. When I close the supplied app which connects the device the Bluetooth device in settings disappears!! Again you aren’t able to manually add the device using a Bluetooth search.
I then tried using my Surface Pro and windows desktop OBD software and again I ran into the same problem. My surface pro did find the OBD dongle this time via settings and Bluetooth but the OBD software refused to connect to it. Note: I borrowed a friends Bluetooth OBD dongle and it worked perfectly so it’s nothing to do with the third party OBD software. Clearly there’s some restriction or issue with this OBD adapter!
The product page on eBay says you can use the free version of Torque but this is purely for Android! Not iOS! Apple users be aware!!
So basically you can only use the supplied OBD app if you are running Apple or Windows!! I don’t own an android phone so wasn’t able to test this OBD dongle on Android.
Disappointing!! And misleading!! I will be contacting the seller for a refund.

That's was one magic hose! Now burst!
Used it around 6-8 times and it burst along the seam like a balloon popping! Totally unrepairable. It's a shame as this was such an innovative product. I've now read online that lots of people have had similar problems so appears to be defective even on more expensive alternatives.

Brilliant!
Very pleased. Great price and fast service. Works as advertised and was able to test it using a simple demo from the downloaded Ardunio SDK. This board is definitely compatible and works as advertised.
