Excellent value.
As the price of Silver continues to rise, the American Eagle is an excellent value. I consider buying these as a smart investment.

The basis for a custom triggerguard
I build custom Mauser rifles and I use these trigger guards as the basis for a custom trigger guard. Out of the box there is much to be done to turn this trigger guard into what is appropriate for a high end custom rifle. The basics are all there but much needs to be done for it to be a truly high end custom. The bow of the trigger guard needs to be reshaped into more of a "tear drop" shape. To do this I use both a Dremel Tool, and half round files to shape the bow. next is the floor plate its self. I remove the floor plate that comes with the trigger guard and use a "Straddle Floor Plate" available from Brownells Shooters Supply, The trigger guard needs to be modified to use this floorplate. This is easily done with a Dremel tool with a cut off wheel, and jewelers files. The replacement floorplate must then be drilled for the hinge pin. Finally the trigger guard needs to be polished in preparation to be re-blued. I realize that this sounds like a substantial amount of work, and it is. However if you want a truly custom rifle the work is absolutely necessary. I find this to be an enjoyable project and well worthwhile, especially when you compare the price of a trigger guard from Sunny Hill or New England Custom Guns. Go slow, take your time, and you will have a trigger guard to be proud of.

Anytime I can purchase a PF 70 American Eagle as a first day release I consider it a wise investment.
