A Good Solid Box
I bought this for a control box on my Myford Lathe. It's easy to drill & file, and retains rigidity even with quite big holes cut into it. With just 3 screws in a horizontral line attaching it to a 1" wide mounting baton, it is solid as a rock. Nice flat surfaces inside with no stiffening webs, so easy to mount switches & terminal blocks etc.
Well worth the extra cost above the plastic boxes.

Imperial bearing at a good price
It’s nice to be able to get imperial bearings at reasonable price.
I couldn’t answer yes to the quality question mainly because it’s an unbranded bearing so unable to rely on manufacturer reputation. Plus l haven’t checked hardness because that would damage it, so quality assessment will be by service life, noting the original Picador bearing lasted 40+ years though.

Not Really for use by Craftsmen
This instrument is 1 degree out when at the position shown, and approx 1.25 degrees out when at 90 degrees, plus when 180 degrees from as shown.
Additionally, the knob has to be very very tight to stop the ruler moving. This seems to be because the thin washer between the ruler and the protractor (to stop scoring on the scale) is not trapped stationary under the swaged-on pivot pin, so does not provide a fixed clamping surface.
The clearance between the pivot pin and the hole in the ruler is 0.010" which contributes to the inaccuracy.
A plus point is that the markings on the protractor scale are very clearly etched.
In summary; for the cheap price, it's OK as supplied for non-precision work, or could be modified to improve accuracy.
