really effective but way too expensive
The two component crackle medium is for the porcelain type of crackling that can be done over images (as in decoupage). It makes much more refined finishes and gives the artist more freedom than the one component variety. The cracks are amplified by rubbing in wax stain after it has dried. I use this for trays and vases and cabinet doors that I have painted and applied decoupage images. It is subtle compared to the kind of crackling effect you get from applying the one component type of crackling, an Elmer's glue type of substance over a base coat which when painted with a contrasting color create profound cracks. This type of one component crackling medium is NOT expensive and can be used on big pieces of furniture. The two component crackling medium is WAY over priced and to do a big piece of furniture would require four bottle of each component, way too costly.
