Good stuff, says The Compiler - and he should know!
It's the definitive work explaining the continuing love of cricket that inspired much of the early writing of PG Wodehouse. His involvement in the game at school and beyond is spelled out, and a selection of his writing on The Summer Game shows how much cricket meant to him. As I compiled the book, it would be odd if I didn't think it's rather good.

How Plum lived in wartime Germany.
For years little was known about the time Wodehouse, having been interned early in the war, was forced to spend in Germany. This has the daughter of the aristocratic - and strongly anti-Nazi - family which had PGW as a guest for several months recalls how he lived in that strange period. We get both an insight into Wodehouse, far from his natural setting, and into the world of the "good" Germans - and never forget, there were many.

Great Place, Great Pictures.
For anyone living in or knowing that corner of Southwest London that was the old Borough of Barnes, this is a lovely book. It is reminiscent of the past while immediately presenting the picture of life as it is lived today in that area. Helen Deaton's introduction sets the scene, and the photos are charming. The only snag is that this book may spark a rush to live here, sending house prices sky-rocketing. Please leave it to use residents!
