Amazing little gps receiver for the money and pda unit!
A real hidden gem of a GPS unit. I like it so much, that I've got three now! with one for spares, since they have been out of production for several years, and new spares such as the easily lost stylus, are almost non-existent at a reasonable price. So it's worthwhile to pick up a cheap one, when they become available sometimes on eBay. Also worth getting a spare rechargeable lithium battery as well, whilst they are still available on eBay. The typical rechargeable battery life is around three and a half hours, before it needs recharging, and can be extended to last for about a day, if a homemade external 4 cell AA battery pack with a mini USB lead is attached with velcro, to the back of the Pocket Loox. It can also be run off the car power socket, with a supplied car adaptor lead; and from the mains, with another supplied plug in power adaptor. The quality of manufacture is very high, as you would expect from a Japanese/German consortium, and they have produced a very cute, efficient small device, which has a good quality LCD display for the size of the hand held GPS unit. It operates on a hidden mobile Windows 5CE operating system, which can be unlocked by freeware ILooks software, that can be found on a GPS modification website and discussion board. There's still also a software upgrade from the Fujitsu Siemens website as well, which enhances the media menu selection. The conversion is not for the inexperienced in computers though! and also needs the Microsoft ActiveSync V.4.2 for PDA's, to communicate with a PC. But the modification results are really worth it, since it turns the Pocket Loox into a mini computer, with an IPhone type display and menu, with typical Windows menu selections, and the memory can be reliably increased to 2Gb with a cheap mini SD card. The new set up can run the existing Navigon software, the excellent freeware/shareware Noni-Map GPS, PortSplitter needed for running different GPS software, Tom Tom 6 with full UK and Western European maps! Mobi reader for e books, the excellent free Wordnet dictionary and a Word, Excel, PDF reader, Picture viewer and Notepad as well, which can be used with the now available small on-screen keyboard. The MP3 player is very good, with quite sophisticated earphone controls for bass and treble adjustments. And if connected to some external MP3 player speakers, produces a good audio sound with good volume. In a quiet environment, the internal speaker is just about adequate for music and GPS direction commands. There's also an internal microphone for some sound recording, which can also be used for GPS commands. With the new GPS software, I have found the Pocket Loox 100 very good for walking/rambling navigation in the countryside, using maps downloaded from the internet, such as Ordinance Survey. It is still good for in car navigation as well, with the choice of Navigon or TomTom, and I have never got lost using it yet! It should have been the 'IPhone' equivalent of the GPS world in 2006, with its small size, excellent Sirf GPS receiver and very efficient computer processor for the size; but poor marketing by Fujitsu Siemens, pricing, and locking up the Windows operating system with just the Navigon software, limited its appeal. With its now cheap second hand price, around £35 for a good one, and the potential to unlock it and run all kinds of Windows 5CE software, it deserves to be a real classic GPS/PDA unit!
    Minced Garlic Granules - 200g

    Quick easy garlic for cooking.
Easy to use to give good garlic taste. If stored for some time, can stick together to form large clumps that have to be broken apart.
VonShef Induction Hob Heat Diffuser Converter Disc 19cm Trivet Disc Simmer Ring

    Works reasonably well
Works better with gas hobs, as it directs the heat to the pan more efficiently, so you use much less gas. With the induction hob, you have to use about twice the amount of power to heat non-steel pans. Just about works with induction hob tops Also watch out for the metal handle getting very hot, have to use cloth to pick up the the handle after being heated for some time, when in use.
