An unjustly-neglected, well-acted and powerful film.
1 of 1 found this helpful I hadn't seen this film before I bought it, a friend told me about it. It's very interesting and certainly entertaining. The story-line is gripping and the presentation works very well. The blood is strangely unreal, but then I haven't read the book: perhaps it's supposed to be like that. The film definitely makes me want to hunt down a copy of the book to get the full story. I'm surprised the film doesn't get more airplay on the television. It's also quite difficult to get a Region 2 version on DVD!

A welcome reissue of the 'Best Of' LPs in their full form.
My principle reason for buying this is that it's the first time 'The Scarlet Capsule' has appeared on CD: the BBC CD release of the 'Best of' LPs is a one-disc edition which omits this episode. It's all to the good then that this release takes the two-CD approach, and generously adds on some Goon songa to fill up some of the empty space. Sadly the BBC dont't seem to want to release on their
'Compendium' series episodes which featured on the EMI LPs in the Sixties and Seventies, such as 'China Story', so a reissue of the LPs is the only way we can get hold of them on CD, even though EMI did hack them about a bit. Hopefully the sales of this set will encourage One Day Music to put out further reissues.

Not bad, but not good ...
Once it's up it does the job, but the catch is unreliable - you have to pull it out most times before it engages. Also the paint on the handle scratches easily and is wearing off quickly.
