High quality with an improved relay board
1 of 1 found this helpful I believe this board replaces an older version which used a reed relay. The high-speed relay in this version follows keying perfectly. Builders will need to study the circuit and "beep" the board when they install it, because there are some differences between the layout and the schematic. This shouldn't be a problem for experienced builders--they're the only folks who should attempt the QSK upgrade anyway. The quality of this PWB puts the originals in my factory-built amplifier to shame. A great product, well worth the modest price.

Excellent microphone pre-processor for PA, small studio, and ham radio applications
This is a professional-quality pre-processor for microphones. It performs limiting, noise gating, low-frequency roll-off, and compression very well and without adding artifacts. Although I've never used it, the feedback destroyer function should be very helpful in PA applications. It identifies and learns resonances in a room and automatically adjust gain at these frequencies to reduce the likelihood that feedback will occur.
Adjusting the Shark to suit a particular application can be frustrating, so reading the instructions is a must. The front panel is easy to understand, and the LED segments and numerical display are very helpful. The XLR and phone jack I/O options make connections to the mic and other equipment very simple. The Shark runs hot, so be sure to place it in an area where airflow is available.
My primary use for the Shark has been as a pre-amplifier and pre-processor when I use a professional microphone with my ham radio transceiver. All functions except the feedback destroyer are engaged. Neither the line out or mic-level output level was suitable for the mic input of my transceiver, so I use the line-level output and insert a 30 dB attenuator between the Shark and the transceiver.
