    Gaggia Carezza
Good entry level espresso machine, makes cafe quality espresso, it has a chromed solid brass filter holder like the more expensive models such as the Gaggia Classic which is double the price, the machine is easy to fill and use, with just three simple switches on the front and a steam knob on top, the only down side is the drip tray( it is simply that) not very deep and needs to be emptied after two or three drinks(the one on the classic is much deeper and needs to be emptied less often) other than that this machine is "ideal for someone just starting to get into real coffee". As with all coffee machines it needs to be cleaned regularly, and de-scaled every month if you live in a hard water area ( breakdown of the machine due to limescale is not covered under the warranty if you buy the machine new). this machine does have an aluminium boiler, so it's best to use citric acid to de-scale it, this not only de-scales the machine but is also boiler friendly. this can be bought in powdered form from the pharmacy counter at your local supermarket for around 80p. dissolve 3-4 teaspoons of citric acid in about 1 pt of lukewarm water and place this in the water tank of the machine, press the brew switch and run half of the liquid through, then turn off and leave for about 20 mins, turn on the brew switch again and run the rest of the solution through ( stop the machine before you run out of liquid and refill with clean cold water) then run two tanks of clean water through to flush the remainder of the solution from the boiler. If you do this monthly you won't have any problems with limescale build-up. Welcome to the world of decent coffee!!!!
