Vintage but Classic TS-120s from Hamandhifia
1 of 1 found this helpful Purchased a TS-120S from Hamandhifi. Simple but fantastic workhorse of an HF rig. As described by them it has full output power on all bands and receives well on all bands. Only has SSB and CW but it is as great of a radio as it is simple.
Pairing it with a cheap generic replacement CB mic (rewired the connector), for this price range, this unit has excellent transmit audio!
Now of course this transceiver isn't going to have all of the features and capabilities of a multi thousand $$ HF radio. However if you recently upgraded to general and are looking for a first rig consider a TS-120s. A tested good working one would be a great choice.
This is not my first HF rig but I do plan on keeping it for a long time. Personally I love the look of these early 80's era radios and am happy to have it in my collection.
Easy and fun to operate and in the 2 weeks I've owned it I've made contacts all over the country.
73s to all!

Fantastic Value with more Functionality (USB software) than the MFJ $300 dollar version.
The price value versus the MFJ equivalent is amazing. We're talking a ratio of about $300 to about $50.
It gives SWR and impedance values of the antenna system and is tunable throughout the entire HF amateur spectrum.
Hook it up to 12 VDC with any standard barrel connector you have around the house and the MR100 works right out of the box.
You can change frequency by band or directly using the front panel buttons. Very easy to use.

bargain 555 frequency generator, great for any electronics experimenter!
For cheaper than buying components separately you get a ready to go 555 frequency generator.
The output frequency of this generator is capacitvely varied. Where as most 555 frequency generator schemes employ variable resistance to control output freq.
The capacatance values are selected with a jumper and 2 of the capacitors are variable. Others are fixed. An LED is connected to the output for a nice visual representation of the signal (more useful at low frequencies).
The frequency range is quite good for an item I paid around $3 for. I did connect the output to an oscilloscope and a speaker and verified the square wave is good.
Every 555 experimenter should have a few of these.
