The Horizon looks good
Horizon in Blue....The French World One "Poilu's" Figure set from Armies in Plastic in 1/32 Scale
I first got thiss et back around 2001. The figures are sculpted well, and in a good size for early beginner toy soldier figure collectors to paint and ideal to use for table or scenery top wargames or skirmish rules (available seperately for purchase from good Wargameing shops) or online rule set sellers.. With a few dice, a tape measure and some scenery, much fun could be had gameing with these aginst their oppossite number with a minimum of terrain, rather like the early days of those old "Airifx" Playsets. A good sized figure set, of a rare and historic subject.
The toy soldiers in this much apreciated set, depict the "later" pattern or Horizon Blue" French infantry uniform, wearing the "Adrian" pattern steel helmet and Putees, . Realisticaly posed, the figures look very animated and "alive" and come moulded in a realistic shade of Horizon blue platic, ideal for the younger toy soldier or beginner at figure modelling. The sets come in a sturdy box with a clear plastic "window" panel, echoing the classic plastic toy figure sets from the earlier 1970's and 1980's.
These figures can be painted if so desired, although a "plastic" set, modern paints and methods give good results on a clean grease free surface, and they will look great painted with care and attention, sharp crisp painting would bring these French troops out at thier very best.

"Maximum Maxime". the Airifx 54MM White Plastic Kit of the French line Infantryman/
The Airifx 54MM Kit is now a very old product, but yes, still "one of their very best". The original quality of the figure sculpting of the orignal moulds was very high, very good, and has stood the test of time very well.
there are a great many seperate individual parts, in hard white plastic, which build up into a fine Figure. it is also possible, take great special note, to build a number of fine figures of the same "subject" but in DIFFERRENT "poses; Whilest not always designed as a "true" Multi -Pose Figure, these white plastic 54 MM kits can give to you, the figur builder, a great many wonderful "possibilitys" to build many types of figure, or even, in fact, to build an ENTIRELY new figurine subject choce, with the use of modelling puttys or "Milliput" type materials, and some basic Modelling tools. It is a pity that these figures are so long "out of available production". Other AIRIFX 1/32 Scale (54 MM Scale sets) are "Multipose" figure sets, and these can be used instead, although involving perhaps differrent methods of figure conversion.
Verdict.
Well worth the effort to find some of these if you can! "A blast from the past" from the good old "1970's.

A Diorama window that opens up to a great many views
During the hey day of the toy soldier and figurine hobby, many kit producers also made "Diorama" items to accompany their toy soldiers and military vehicles, in the then popular scale of 1/32 (54MM) such as Airifx, and the other Japanese and Chinese kit producers, such as TAMIYA and Bandai or Aurora produced Diorama and vehicle sets in scales from 1/48 , up to a large 1/25th scale. To build and display these fine miniature models, scenery, such as countryside, houses, bombed towns bridges villages, trees and gateways etc etc were required. Belgium "MASTER MODELLER" francois VERLINDED led the way with his Military figurinesa nd vehicles built from differrent manufacturers, and his excellent photo featuresin such hobby press publications as "Military Modeller" magazine (still going) and others.
A usefull diroama item from Italeri this little set, you could have those Chzekh paratropers who killed Heydrich fighting here, or equally the retreating Nazi enemy....A lot of possibilities for dioramas. Simple to assemble and easily modifiable to incorporate into a bigger wider diorama scene.
