A Game-Changer for Old Eyes
15 of 16 found this helpful I am a 76-year old competitive High Power Rile shooter who hasn't had much shooting fun in the past three years shooting service rifle or even match rifle with aperture sights. Just could not see, especially at 300 yards or more.
This year NRA and CMP allowed use of 1-4.5x x34mm objective, so I thought, why not?
Got this Leupold VXR Patrol scope just before the 2016 season started in Indiana, and it is really a game-changer.
Found that I didn't really use the firedot because I think that is for CQB or multigun. The turrets are easy to turn, are well marked, and the reticle is GREAT. Bought a bikini scope cover, and a cantilever scope mount, and
I am good to go. Last week while setting my 300 yard zero, without staying locked in position, fired a 186-5x. I know that I had been serious about it, could have fired195 or better.....scope is that good. Found that 2X worked better for me at 200, and 3x and 4x for 300 in lower light. Of course, at offhand 200 yards you see every heartbeat.
Shooting is FUN again.
