The ugly duckling
A superb locomotive with excellent detail BUT beware a lot of the detail is very fragile, e.g steps, pipes and cab floor.Handle with great care.
The mechanism is top notch BUT, yes another but, beware of the draw bar between loco and tender as it's movement from side to side around corners is limited and derailments could be suffered on tight radius curves, second radius can be problematic. One help in this is to file down or cut out a sliver of the sides of the draw bar to give it more freedom. On third and fourth radius there should not be a problem but for smaller layouts some adjustment may be necessary.
An ugly duckling but a superb runner and something different.

Model in near mint condition and running qualities were good.For amodel some thirty years old it had seen very little use and was exactly as described

Superb but do not touch
The Q1 locomotive from Hornby is a superbly detailed model BUT please be warned a lot of this detail is so fragile that the slightest touch will enough to dismember it.
Hornby should really be ashamed of themselves for producing such an excellent model then peppering it with details that are not robust enough to withstand handling even with the most careful of touch.
The model runs superbly which the detail problem even more exasperating.
