the title captures the book's running theme

One of the best war novels I have ever read-I've just finished reading it for the second time-it's authentic and the suspense never lets up. A tremendous read.

The title simply speaks for itself!

A brilliant history of WW2...most recent histories of the war just have too much information not really important to the narrative, whereas John Keegan cuts out the bumph.

The title is unusual, but pivotal to the story.

H E Bates is a great author and this novel is one of the finest I've read about world war two. The book itself is in very good condition for a paperback.
