Fiddly but Effective
The good: very effective once in place, the cats have not come near since I put them in position
The bad: no instructions, so hit-and-miss with the settings. I have them on a very high frequency setting because I can hear them otherwise and they put my teeth on edge. However, my friends claim they can't hear them, even at low-to-middle frequency so I guess that's ok.
The ugly: Sweet Lord, but these are a faff to put together! You will need good eyesight, good lighting, a tiny screwdriver, a tiny pair of pliers and a LOT of patience. The stake doesn't slot in, you need to screw it in place with tiny nuts and bolts. The battery compartment doesn't slide in place, there are more tiny screws. And gaskets - I have no idea what you do with those. The screws are soft and the ends get mashed up - if they land on the floor, they disappear. For this reason I would not recommend, but if you are up to it, they are great, robust and effective.

Look so much better than than electric hob rings
I've said they are not good quality, but they're not bad quality either. They do their job and the hob looks a helluva lot better with them than without. Remember to take them off before turning the rings on though ... I bought two sets in anticipation as I have made that mistake more than once in the past!
