It stays true to the real story
My ex husbands family has lived in Meriwhether county, right next to Coweta county, for about 100+ years and his grandfather hung around some of the characters.
My ex-mother in law, who was a teenager at the time, said the book was very accurate. The movie covered the story accurately, too, considering the story was told in a 2 hour movie.
If you get a chance read the book 1st.
