A pleasant read, but of little value to a serious reader.
Of only local interest, I think. Not very well written and clearly not from the pen of a serious historian or social historian, this is a charming though lightweight account of the family life of a poor rural family, but gives little of the detail a serious reader would probably want to have. And the vocabulary is peculiar imho.

Brilliant! But Ouch! The price!
Beautifully printed, very authentic and realistic. My only gripe is the price (hence 4 stars and not 5). But I find myself thinking that a lot these days regarding everything from building papers to locomotives.
