A most excellent LEGO set!
1 of 1 found this helpful Very nearly LEGO's largest set, this monster assembly ticks almost all the boxes for an ambitious LEGO assembler or My Own Creation (MOC) designer. It has a very large number of parts to help fill any LEGO MOC designer's parts-bin; it has an involved and lengthy build; the final product is satisfying with a wide arrange of functions. For those who can't bear to dismantle their LEGO models it looks good as part of a collection of assemblies. Apart from one niggle (see below) the instructions are excellent.
There are some trivial negatives: As usual for modern LEGO sets the steering is limited in range and doesn't have Ackerman geometry. The wheels have no suspension. And finally - and worst for me - the instructions are printed in low-saturation colours that make it hard for me to distinguish blue and black parts. I have to make sure to ensure good lighting so I use the instructions. This is absolutely typical of all LEGO Technic instructions these days - LEGO seem to have picked a colour scheme and are sticking to it! (Maybe it's meant to make copying harder?)
I was aware of those minor downsides before I bought the kit, and went for it anyway - just as soon as I could afford it. I have had great pleasure assembling the model, and I am looking forward to adding to parts to my collection in the near future.
If you want a meaty, satisfying LEGO assembly experience then this is a kit to go for.
