One of two best Slot Car Sets
5 of 5 found this helpful The Tomy/AFX Giant Raceway is one of the two best HO Scale Race Sets made, along with the Tomy/AFX International Set. Nothing from Life-Like or Auto World compares or even Tyco/Mattel Sets. Tomy track is way smoother than Life-Like, has way more variety of different pieces allowing for much more sophisticated Layout than Tyco and comes with way better Cars, power-paks, Lao-counters and Controllers than all 3. Auto World track is essentially the same as Tomy and is connectible with Tomy, and AW deserves kudos for making the 3" Adaptor Track pieces that allow all 3 brands to be connected together, but Tomy is on top. Go for the Tomy Giant if you want maximum track footage in a two car set-up, or go for the Tomy International if you want a 4-lane 4 car set-up. The current version of the Giant comes with Tomys new digital Lap-counter. Both sets current versions have the new Tomy Mega G-Plus Cars and the new stronger, yet more variable Tri-Power Paks. - Reggie

Basic AFX/TOMY Race track necessity!!
Everyone who owns an AFX/TOMY H.O. Scale Auto Race Set should add one of these Dual Power-pak Hook-up Track Terminal Sections to their Layout. In fact, its hard to grasp why AFX/TOMY doesnt include one in every set. Of course you will have to add a second Power-pak to use this Terminal Track section, and that extra cost may be the reason they dont include those two items in every set.
With only one Power-pak powering two lanes and two cars racing at the same time there is not enough power for each car to run its best without drawing some power away from the other car, resulting in jerky un-controllable power surges or loss of power right as you are entering a curve, which results in un-controlled de-sloting right when it shouldnt happen. One solution would be to invest in much stronger Power-paks or Transformers so both Cars can draw down as much power as they need without affecting the other Driver, but the other, better solution is to have an Independent Power Source for each Lane/Car and that is what this Dual Power-pak Terminal Section does.
If you are buying your Race Set just for your Kid-niks to play on, there is probably no need to buy this Track Section and the additional Power-pak it requires, but if you want Fair competition between Adults, its a must have upgrade to your Set!!

The highest quality Race Track as made by AFX with two Hot new Bodied Cars (especially the Mustang, Wow), with the new Tri-Power Powe-Pak, the latest Mega G-Plus motors and the Digital Lap-counter all for under $150.
