Difficult to assemble.
3 of 3 found this helpful The box arrived quickly, which was handy, our problems mainly started when we began to assemble the box. The instructions were clear, everything was packaged well etc. The first problem we noticed was there were a lot of scratches on the parts, luckily we were decorating it as it is for a gift so it wasn't the end of the world but not what I expected from a new product. The holes for the dowels were far too big, and other holes were drilled too small making it difficult to assemble, also the slotted lines to slide the sides and back into place were not properly aligned so it took a good bit of knocking things into place and a small amount of filing to get it to slot in so we could finish putting it together. The hinge part that stops the lid slamming/holds it open is crazy stiff to the extent the lid doesn't shut properly at all, we have to put things onto it to keep it shut. However after the nightmare of putting it together and the scratches which we covered, it is a nice toybox. It is a nice size, feels relatively solid, and looks nice once finished. If it weren't for the aesthetic flaws and the misaligned slots I would definitely recommend this. Maybe we just got a bad one as the reviews seem mainly overwhelmingly positive.
