The Only Philippines Guide Book to Read.
I would not travel without a Lonely Planet Guide Book, it gives you a concept of the country, it covers all the basics to making a start of exploring a country, and allows you to be more adventurous than you would be without it. I don't always agree with everything, but without such a Guide you would not find the hidden Gems that make travel so special. I bought my first Philippines Lonely Planet in 2005 in Darlington Book Shop, it broke my heart paying nearly 20quid, but it has saved me many times that, sometimes on a daily basis, best investment I ever made. I just bought the 2015 version for something like 11quid including postage on Ebay, the format has changed in the 10 years between the 2 books, but the advice is the same, get out there and enjoy your adventures. I cannot recommend Lonely Planet Books highly enough, its my must read first thing in the morning with coffee, and last thing at night with hot milk, and great dreams.
