Waiting to see if the non-stop "paper jam" problem continues
Our previous OKI color laser printer was a workhouse for several years and almost never had a paper jam. It was a bit slow to start and the page rate was only medium, but it was DEPENDABLE and the only reason we bought this new one us because of the cost to replace the Y, M & C drums. Since we had had such a great experience with that one, we decided to stick with another OKI. The USB cable install went well and fairly quickly, but I really wanted to use the wireless option. Unfortunately, the printer couldn't be found by Win 7, and after several hours I gave up.
However, that wasn't our prime complaint. From the very beginning the printer would issue a "paper jam" error and asked that the cover be opened and the jam removed, then close the cover. That error message would sometimes come with the first page, or a second or third page. Each time I opened the cover and removed all of the cartridges and checked everyplace available - but never did find a problem. Sometimes when I went through the process I could get what I needed, but other times, it took multiple attempts. Usually, merely opening, then closing the cover would do the job for a page or two - this has been especially frustration when printing a multi-page document.
Finally, for the first today, it has functioned as designed. I don't know if it will continue properly operating or not, so at this point I'm apprehensive. That one MAJOR issue aside, we are delighted with the speed and quality of the output.
