"Can you feel the schtaaag?"
Excellent story. Bought this after watching Series 1 of the TV version and pleased to find that Diana Gabaldon's role as a consultant has ensured that the two are very close. At times it does get a bit "Fifty Shades of Tartan". OK, I get it that the heroine and hero are in an all consuming, passionate time-defying relationship, but yet another five pages devoted to them disappearing into the heather, to investigate what a Highlander wears under his kilt, can get a little tedious after a while. At one point they both admit, after yet another torrid "highland uprising", that they are both a little sore. So what do they decide to do? Yep, go at it like dirks.
I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and its telling. The heroine is a feisty and realistic character and narrator and the novel is rich with the culture of Scotland, even Nessie gets a part. No sight of deep fried Mars bars, Irn Bru or Sean Connery but there's time yet!
