Advertised AS a Sony W 8 5 0 i
1 of 1 found this helpful I have wanted a Sony W 8 5 0 i for quite a while now and WAS going to buy the phone advertised by this "AndyOddSocks" from ebay....but HE "screwed" up the advert and was so late supplying me with the correct information that is was REALLY a W 5 8 0 i.....And he still not naswered my messages....Oh dear.
I finally managed to find TWO of these phones privately (Away from EBAY) for sale and Both them both.
My wife has one, now on O2, pay as you go and mine on T-Mobile.
2 mega pixels might not be that much by todays standards but it is sufficent for a reasonable photo.
my Fuji E510 is a 5 mega pixel camera and I only ever use that set the 3.....Both just need more Optical Zoom....Digital zoom just blurs the pixels and doesn't give such a good picture. So basically, just use the camera function for stuff you can clearly see at normal focus distance.
The phone itself is small enough to go in your pocket/handbag and large enough not to have to fumble with the buttons. Navigation buttons are a little small....NB don't cut your nails too short :-)
I wanted to protect the phone so bought a clear solid plastic case which clips to both sides of the phone and allows it to slide open and be used without having to take it out of the case. Only part exposed is a small section of buttons on the front of the phone at the bottom.
I have found it easy to use and the instruction booklets fairly easy to understand. I much prefer something which is virtually "plug and play" than have what I call the "Faffing About Factor"......just can't be doing with it....IF It don't work pretty much straight out of the box, then I either find something which IS easier to use and put it down to a bad experience and buy something that suits ME!
This one does.
Bought as a replacement for my old Motorla Colorado..(Otherwise named 3788)...anyone remember them? About 15 years ago, ARGOS were doing a deal PAYG phone, with £10.00 "air time" all for £29.99.....I have worn a couple of batteries out, but this phone is still in good working order....Always kept in a case (Worn a couple of thos out also :-) But it was just too big by todays standards.
The W850i is not SMALL by modern standards but since their introduction have proved to be a reliable model and IF it lasts as long as my last / 1st phone, then I will have no compliants.
maybe I will write another report in 15 years about the next new/ used phone I buy.
Go for the KISS method of operation.....
