Great DVD, in color it's much better than 40+years ago!
2 of 3 found this helpful I first watched Forbidden Planet over 40 years ago, and except for Star Wars most other sci-fi movies produced before Star Wars and many since, have not met the standard set by Forbiden Planet. Charracteristic of nearly all movies produced by Hollywood in the 50's , 60's , and even the 70's , the acting was somewhat predictable and dated, the special effects rivaled and even surpassed the mid-grade computer-generated ones of today, and instead of the lone female getting all kinds of lewd and pornographic sex acts performed on her as in today's seemingly mandatory cinema obligations Forbidden Planet fortunately has merely overacted kissing portrayed. The rugrats at home won't be prompted to field-test recreational sex acts on the neighbor's kids after watching Forbidden Planet, not so with nearly all other genre of movies produced in the last twenty some years . I plan to let my grandkids watch it , and I know it will fascinate them the same way it did me forty some years ago .
